Incredibly informative look at the black art of ECU tuning. Enjoy it, as I did!

Interesting to see the difference between 2 top builders, Steve and Tom, in these interviews. Seems like Steve just can’t help sounding condescending no matter how hard he tries.

cool video, I’ve been trying to better understand engine calibrations for a while now. One of the best I’ve found thus far that explains the relationships of cam phasing, injection and ignition timing and egr was this

You can definitely tell though that Steve has a more technical understanding of engine tuning . There’s a very good reason he’s been so successful and an independent tuner for race team, and supplying BMW dealers with BMW-approved tunes, suspension, etc solutions sold through BMW dealers!.
How many tuners can claim to offer Factory-approved software solutions for customers?
Also, a friend of mine who is 62 years old keeps mispronouncing Dinan. I kept correcting him ever since I met him, as we’re both BMW enthusiasts and he’s been using Dinan stuff way before I was even into BMWs. I sent him this video and he replied to me “fuck you, (my name) (smiley face)“. LOL

Alpina is another tuner with factory aproved tuning, I think.

Alpina is a bit different from Dinan in that it’s more than just an independent tuner. Alpina is closer to being as Ruf is to Porsche, but with BMW approval. Alpina actually produces their own models based on BMWs, while maintaining BMW warranty.
But I do see where you’re going with that one

I wish they hadn’t kept switching cameras on the poor guy, he looked real confused talking to the wrong camera all the time

I have learned more about how cars work from NASIOC and vwvortex than probably any other sites on the internet, and I have yet to own either a subie or a VW.
